Day 7

I made it through my first week of my new way of life. My goals this week were simple; 1. drink 2 bottles of water a day and 2. get 180 minutes of exercise in this week. I met both goals!! The water drinking was harder for me than getting in the exercise. I really don't like to drink water. My final exercise amount for the week was: Monday 25 minutes on the elliptical Tuesday 63 minutes of swimming Wednesday 12 minutes of walking Friday 63 minutes of swimming Sunday 20 minutes of walking For a grand total of 183 minutes. Goals for week two will be: 1. Drink 2 bottles of water per day 2. Exercise for 210 minutes this week 3. Only have one beverage per day that is not water (not counting my protein shake for breakfast) 4. Eat at least 2 servings of fruit/veggies per day. I will see on Tuesday if I lost any weight this week. My guess is no weight lost or very little which is fine since I'm trying to make small changes. A big thing for me will be giving up pop and o

Day 5

Sorry I didn't update yesterday. I had a CRAZY day. I am mostly a stay at home mom but I also substitute teach at my kids elementary school. Yesterday I was supposed to fill in for the reading recovery teacher; it's a great gig because you work with 1-4 kids at a time for 30 minutes on reading and then send them back to class. So if you have a difficult kid you don't have to deal with them for long. Well yesterday while I was working with the second group the principal came and asked if I could move to one of the kindergarten rooms so that teacher could take her daughter to the doctor. I subbed in that kindergarten room once before and it did not go well. For some reason that group of kids goes wild when the teacher is not there (I think they are pretty wild for her too) and it seems to be mostly the male gender that is the problem. I said I would do it because otherwise the kids would be split up between 10 other classrooms and that ruins the day for the kids and makes lif

Day 3

Well I achieved my goals yesterday by drinking 2 bottles of water and adding 63 minutes of exercise to my 180 minute goal for the week. I'm now just 2 minutes shy of being halfway to my exercise goal and I still have several days left. Today I'm not feeling very well; my nose is running and my throat hurts so I'm not going to gym today. I did just take some medicine so if I feel a bit better I am going to take a walk around the block to at least get some movement in. I haven't changed my eating habits at all yet and they are not good. Last night I had a bowl of ice cream which I justified since my throat hurt. This morning because I didn't feel well I decided to run to McDonald's to pick up breakfast instead of making something at home. I'm not someone who goes to a fast food restaurant and orders something healthy. I got a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit and a medium coke........breakfast of champions it wasn't but it sure tasted good. Next week I will

Day 2

I made it through day 1 yesterday and did pretty well. I did drink my two bottles of water and I got some exercise in towards my weekly goal of 180 minutes. Today I got the kids off to school and went to the YMCA to swim. I haven't really done any swimming since October so I was very happy to be able to swim for 63 minutes. I completed 32 laps (down and back) with a rotation of 2 laps with a kick board, 2 laps freestyle and 2 laps backstroke. I'm currently having my breakfast protein shake (chocolate almond milk, chocolate protein powder and peanut powder) and working on my first bottle of water for the day. I should say my water bottle is 750 ml so it's bigger than a normal water bottle so if you think 2 bottles of water isn't very much it's more than you think. I weighed myself this morning to get a clear idea of my starting weight since I forgot to get on the scale yesterday morning. My current weight is 295.8 which was actually less than I was expecting. I'

Day 1

Today is day 1 in my quest to lose weight and get healthier. I chose today because this past weekend I went back to my Alma mater and walked a total of 12 miles in two days. Those 12 miles were very difficult for me and my feet and back hurt and I was completely out of breath most of the time. I'm tired of always being out of breath and having parts of my body hurt because I am overweight. I'm not talking overweight like I need to lose these last 10 pounds to fit back into my high school jeans. I'm talking so overweight I need to lose 1/2 of myself in order to be close to what the weight chart says I should be for my height (notice I said close, that won't even get me all the way there). So today is day 1. Next year when I go back to my university I want to be able to walk 12 or 20 miles and not feel pain and not feel out of breath and disgusted with myself. In order to make a change in my life and lose weight I am going to make small changes over the next 52 weeks. I
